Schooner Race Photos

Here are a few pictures from our racing adventure. They were all taken by Steve Musil. He's on the right in the photo below. Captain Rob is next to him. Frank Phelps is in the blue shirt, and I am on the left. Emmet took the picture (he's on the left in the last photo). You can click on any image to see a larger version.

  2. Well, what fun you all had! And Congratulations are in order to Captain Rob and the crew, for sure! Placing 3rd in such a race on the Chesapeake is an honor, indeed!

Living at the top of the Chesapeake, we were glad to hear that you enjoyed the journey north in our friendly waters. Well done Windfall!

    See you in June!

When did you ever wear a life jacket and when were you ever hooked up to a life line and in the last photo is that a beer in that cup? what saftey measures were followed

  6. Carol, I thought the same thing. I do look "a little green," but no, I never got seasick. In fact none of us did, although the swells were large and the boat pitched and rolled and yawed.

To answer the last reader's questions, we never wore life jackets, though the Windfall has plenty (within easy reach), nor did we use life lines. Some of the sailors on the very large vessels used life lines when they climbed up into the rigging, which we never did. And yes that is a beer. We were at the awards ceremony and oyster feast celebrating our 3rd place win.

life jackets within easy reach sounds like wishful thinking to me! honestly a wave washing someone overboard do you have time to grab a life jacket within reach ??? especially that young'n on the left he needed to wear one for posterity
